Last summer the world was astonished as both the men’s and women’s 4x100 relay squad lost the race because of a bad exchange of the baton. We had the best runners, who were the best trained with the best equipment, yet we were humiliated because of a technical error that should never have happened.
We too as Christians are in a race. Paul says, “I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line” (1 Cor. 9:26).
On August 24th, our students began a 180 day race—a mission trip to one of the largest missions fields in the world, their public school. So we started a weeklychallenge called Passing the Baton. Each week we give one student a baton with the challenge of taking it to their school in order to run with the message of hope found in knowing Jesus Christ.
“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful” (1 Cor. 4:2).
